Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus – we look at the world differently, each adding a rich tapestry to the world we live in. It is hard to believe in 2015 that women have only had the vote about 100 years, that women in most countries have the right to a full education, to live and travel independently if they want.
My parents were born nearly 100 years ago, but we had a rich family tradition of holidays. Once or twice a year we went away as a family, but once a year my father went off trout fishing with mates, and another time my mother went off with her girlfriends golfing and walking.
Marybeth Bond is the Gutsy Traveler and keeps track of statistics and says that 80% of all travel decisions are made by women, and that “Women– young, old, single, married, and widowed are fueling an explosive growth in the travel industry.”
This is certainly my experience, and was the inspiration behind setting up several websites about women and travel.
This site is a portal for women travellers to find tours and accommodation just for them. Hundreds of tour companies are listed, along with hundreds of tours – mostly just for women.
There is a growing list of Women Guides around the world – women like Adriana in Bulgaria who will show you their part of the world, or the woman guides in Rome, or Edith in Paris offering Stylish walks through history.
